Adoptable Pets

Adopting through Life Is Better

  • If you are interested in a dog, please submit an application online. We are foster based and therefore do not have a public facility to visit our animals. Meetings with our animals are set up with an approved adoption application. Applications are processed in the order in which they are recieved.
  • If you are interested in a cat or any of our other small animals go directly through the Arvada PetSmart #252. Please do not use our online application for animals other than dogs. Note: we try to keep PetFinder up to date; however, we are not always able to do so. Your best option is go directly to PetSmart #252 to see if they are still available.
  • We accept one application per household and only one dog may be listed.
  • We do not hold applications. If you are interested in adopting an animal, you must submit a new application even if you have been approved in the past.
  • Our cats and other animals are available for adoption directly through the Arvada PetSmart #252. Please do not use our online application for animals other than dogs. (See below.)
  • Our experience has taught us that animals adopted together are generally more difficult to train well and have a harder time adjusting and bonding with the new family, so we do not adopt out multiple cats or dogs, littermates or otherwise, at the same time. We don't mind setting up an adoption for another animal at a later date, but we will generally only send one animal home at a time.
  • If you are looking for an Emotional Support Animal and your housing situation doesn't allow animals, please get the proper paperwork taken care of so we can verify with your landlord/housing management that you may have the animal.
  • We need to verify vaccination records for any current pets in your household. Please provide us with the contact information where we can check the vaccination status.
  • We do not have the capability to ship our animals. Also, we only adopt to Colorado residents.

Please note the best way to contact us is via e-mail. If you are interested in adopting an animal from Life is Better Rescue, please submit a completed adoption application form. We are unable to evaluate your adoption request unless this form has been submitted to us. Completion of the application does not guarantee adoption of an animal from Life is Better Rescue.

Before applying to adopt, please read the appropriate adoption agreement.

When you're ready to apply, fill out our online application.

The availability of our animals is always subject to change. We encourage you to check back.

Denali

Photo of Denali Photo of Denali

Denali is a 9 month old Husky that is an amazing dog. In the short time he has been in foster care, he has progressed in leaps and bounds. With the nice weather, he even started venturing out into the yard to chill in the sun. He has made friends with all three of the foster parent's dogs. Even their one dog, that doesn't like anyone or anything, actually likes him and have been playing. He is also great with kids. Denali has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been dewormed. Denali is working on all the obedience items (house training, crate training, general commands, etc.) and would love to be part of a family that keep him occupied as part of daily routine. Denali needs to be in a home without cats. Denali is $400 to adopt.

Agatha

Photo of Agatha Photo of Agatha

Agatha is a petite bundle of joy! At about a year and a half old. Agatha looks like an extra-small Labrador, weighing in just under 40 pounds. She has completed treatment for heartworm and has received a negative test; she's also spayed, fully vaccinated, and up to date on wormer and parasite prevention, and microchipped with registration. Agatha loves the company of, well, everyone - she has lots of energy to play with canine friends but also adores a good snuggle (a true lap dog). She's not a barker at all, but is working on leash manners - everything is so exciting! Agatha is housetrained with monitoring and is working on getting more comfortable in a crate, though she is non-destructive in the house. We think Agatha would integrate well into just about any home situation, but would love a backyard. Agatha's adoption fee is $350.

Ava

Photo of Ava Photo of Ava

Ava is a five year old shepherd mix that was recently transferred to rescue when her mom passed away after a very short but courageous battle with cancer. She has a soft shy personality and lived with another dog that was protective of her, so as you can imagine, these recent changes have been a big adjustment. Ava is really starting to show her personality as she gets comfortable; she is appropriate with other dogs and beginning to instigate play, loves exploring the world on walks, and enjoys curling up by your feet or on the couch with you. She's in foster with a professional positive-reinforcement trainer who says she's a super gal. Although she takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people, she is extremely sweet. We believe Ava would do best in a quieter home without young children and lots of commotion, and would be fine in a home with respectful dogs that match her energy level. She is fully house trained, and can be crated, though she is non-destructive in the home when left unattended. She would be happy with another dog in the house but dog parks are too overwhelming for her. She demonstrates a lot of body language about how she is feeling. If body language is respected she will quickly build a trustworthy relationship. New owners will need to learn about body language (ex: lip licks, appeasement kisses, whale eyes, eye contact, pet consent). She listens well, knows basic obedience, does need to learn better leash skills. Ava is spayed, fully vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention, and microchipped with registration. Her adoption fee is $350.

Bear

Photo of Bear Photo of Bear

Bear is a six year old Husky mix that was recently transferred to rescue when his mom passed away after a very short but courageous battle with cancer. Bear felt protective of the more timid female dog in his previous home; to avoid that behavior we would suggest he go to a home with confident, relaxed-energy dogs, and he may do best without young children. He is a well-rounded, lovable dog to cuddle and go on walks with. It has taken time for him to mourn that loss of her person but is finally ready to find and become part of a new family. He loves walks, dog parks, cheese, and sleeping next to you (if allowed), although he is working on sleeping in a crate at night. He is not a chewer and knows how to use a dog door and is house-trained. Bear tends to be pretty quiet unless he is really excited or trying to get another dog to play. He is up for any outdoor adventure here and there, but likes to walk and eat the same time everyday. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention, and microchipped with registration. His adoption fee is $350.

Amanda

Photo of Amanda Photo of Amanda

Amanda is a complete dreamboat of a dog - wash and wear for sure. Just over a year old, shepherd mix Amanda lost one of her rear legs after infection took over a neglected wound. Being a tripod makes her that much more endearing. She is sweet, affectionate, playful, and trusting - also housebroken, crate-trained, and generally easy going. We know that she's been great with kids and other dogs, but don't have a read on if she is cat-friendly. Amanda is working on leash manners; she needs more experience and may benefit from a harness. She has a beautiful coat and is a solidly medium-sized dog. Amanda is spayed, heartworm tested negative, up to date on vaccinations, current on wormer and parasite prevention, and microchipped with registration. Her adoption fee is $350.

Sienna

Photo of Sienna Photo of Sienna

Sienna was found abandoned next to a dumpster at just five days old in the northern suburbs and quickly transferred to rescue from one of our wonderful municipal shelter partners. After being lovingly bottle-raised, Sienna has grown into a feisty, friendly puppy who is ready for her forever home. She is working on mastering housetraining, is comfortable in a crate, and gets along well with other dogs. Sienna is going to be a larger dog; weighing in well over ten pounds at two months old. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations for her age, wormed, and microchipped with registration. Her adoption fee is $450.
